Correlation between ferroelectric phase transition and crystallization behaviour of ferroelectric polymers

Abstract

The degree of crystallinity of ferroelectric copolymers of vinylidene fluoride and trifluoroethylene was measured as a function of annealing temperature. It increased remarkably at the ferroelectric phase transition temperature. The increase was attributed to the growth of crystallites by the thermodynamical consideration, where a concept of “sliding diffusion was introduced as a growth mechanism of the crystallite.
