The Mechanical Quality Factor Qm is a material parameter of key importance for the piezoceramics characterization and, consequently, for the design of ultrasonic transducers. The development of low Qm materials has involved a reexamination of the old Qm measurements procedures. The paper tries to help to the historical revision and the search of present proposals for the measurement of Qm.
