Abstract
Perovskite-structured lead zinc niobate, Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3 (PZN) ceramics can be stabilized by substituting for 10 mol % KNbO3 (KN). Piezoelectric properties of the pseudo-ternary PZT ceramics including 0·9PZN-0·1KN, namely, a·{0·9Pb(Zn1/3Nb2/3)O3−0·1KNbO3} − b·PbZrO3 − c·PbTiO3 (PKNZT [100a/100b/100c]) are studied from a viewpoint of piezoelectric actuator materials.
For example, PKNZT [45/28/27] has a high electromechanical coupling factor, k 33 = 70·1%, a free permittivity, ε33 T/ε0 = 1890 and a high piezoelectric constant, d 33 = 377 × 10−12 C/N. PKNZT ceramics are favorable to piezoelectric actuator materials.
