Abstract
I first met Terutaro Nakamura at the Ferroelectricity Conference at Kyoto in 1969. That seems like a long time ago, and it is. However, from our very first meeting I was taken by his friendliness and his interests in so many things. He was always a delight to be around. We saw each other at all of the subsequent ferroelectrics conferences, including the recent one in Saarbrucken. At all of these meetings it was rewarding to see Terutaro.
