Abstract
From the viewpoint that the space available to constituent ions may dominantly influence the lattice instabilities, the displacive phase transitions of the perovskite-type oxide crystals are comparatively surveyed. The limit of applicability of this approach is also considered in connection with other possible mechanisms.
