Abstract

The red luminescence observed in both reduced “as grown” KTaO₃ and KTa_0.94Nb_0.06O₃ single crystal samples has been studied as a function of temperature and applied magnetic field. The results indicate that the luminescent center is a Ta³⁺ ion located in a ferroelectric microdomain in the vicinity of oxygen vacancies.
