Thermal and dielectric dispersions of supercooled polyhydric alcohols

Pages 315-323 | Received 30 Jun 1991, Published online: 10 Feb 2011

Abstract

The structural relaxation of supercooled state has been studied by the measurements of complex thermal effusivity and dielectric constant in glycerol, 1,2-propanediol and its solution with 1,2-ethanediol. The mean thermal relaxation frequency is found to be in agreement with the dielectric one. With regard to the distribution of the relaxation time, it is found that the parameter of the Davidson-Cole formula of the thermal relaxation is smaller than that of dielectric one.
