Abstract
The need for a precise approach to the study of pyroelectric phenomena, consisting in the allowance for electrothermal interaction in polar crystals, has been substantiated. The electrocaloric effect is responsible for an additional resistance of electric loss the thermal noise of which fully corresponds to the contribution of temperature fluctuations to the total electric fluctuations of a pyroactive element. A new mechanism of dielectric loss has been established. It allows to determine the limiting minimal attainable noise equivalent power of pyroelectric radiation detector.
