Comparison of the laser scanning microscopy for pyroelectric display in real time, with other methods to study domains structure, a review

Abstract

The pyroelectric probe technique has been given for many years a spatial resolution of about 1 μm.¹ The scanning electron microscope can achieve a higher one.² The physical properties which are used are different, but the results are often comparable as will be shown by selecting several examples concerning TGS, NaNO₂, GASH, etc…, but sometimes different. The use of nematic liquid crystals has recently brought interesting results concerning the observation of domains in real time.³ The review and the discussion will be far from exhausive because of the number of parameters involved in the problem.
