Abstract
We discuss ferroelectric-antiferroelectric transition in chiral smectic liquid crystmais with molecular theorp. The pair interaction between model molecules consist's of repulsive hard core potential aid short range attractive force. We take a distinction of the head and tail of the molecule into consideration as an asymmery of the short range attractive part of the pair interaction. Using this model, we show that the head-tail asymmetry contributes to the stability of the ferrielectric phase.
