An approximate solution of the vector wave equation for optical waveguides using galerkin's method with hermite—gaussian basis functions

Abstract

A vector Galerkin's method based on the transverse electric fields (E formulation) is formulated and presented. The general results are applied to a simple step index rectangular waveguides with large core-cladding index difference.
