Abstract
This paper focuses on the damping effect of delaminations and pores on the electromechanical resonances of ferroelectric Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3 multilayer capacitors. Using a linear approximation, defect-damped dielectric spectra of the capacitors have been calculated at given boundary conditions and porosities. Under 20V dc bias, two batches of 200 capacitors were measured to examine the theoretical analysis. The damping factor ηi and porosities Pi determined from the measured data represent the delaminations and pores in capacitors respectively. A general agreement between destructive physical analysis and this investigation has been achieved.
