Abstract
Abstract Properties of new bismuth perovskite solid solutions, (Bi1−xMex) (Ni(1−x)/2Ti(1+x)/2)O3 (Me=Pb, Ba), were studied for their ferroelectric properties as a new group of piezoelectric ceramics. The crystal phase of these solid solutions is of perovskite structure with x≥ 0.3. The (Bi1−xPbx)(Ni(1−x)/2 Ti(1+x)/2)O3 (BPNT-100x) has a morphotropic phase boundary between a rhombohedral phase and a tetragonal phase at x=0.445. The Curie temperature, Tc , is over 400 °C. D-E hysteresis loops were observed with a large remanent polarization, Pr≥ 30 μC/cm2, and a coercive field, E c≤ 45 kV/cm. The electromechanical coupling factors, k 33 and k 31, in the longitudinal and the transverse modes were 50.3 % and 23.8 % at x=0.5 (BPNT-50), respectively.
