Phase transformations of oriented Pb(Zr1-xTix)O3 thin films from metallo-organic precursors

Abstract

Phase evolutions and orientations of Pb(Zr1-xTix)O3 films grown from metallo-organic precursors can be controlled by heat treatment schedules. Central to these reactions is the formation of an intermetallic Pt-Pb transient phase at the PZT/Pt(111) interface under a locally reducing atmosphere. Perovskite grown directly onto this phase from amorphous is oriented in the (111) direction. Perovskite grown from pyrochlore that forms after the decomposition of the Pt-Pb phase is oriented in the (100) direction.
