Abstract
The susceptibility profiles of ferroelectric thin films were calculated for the case when the bulk phase transition is first order. The dependence of mean susceptibility on the film thickness was discussed. When the polarization near the surface is reduced, the mean susceptibility increases with the decrease in film thickness and goes up anomalously near a critical thickness L0. When the polarization near the surface is enhanced, the mean susceptibility of the film decreases with the decrease in film thickness.
