Abstract
Raman scattering experiments on K2ZnCl4 have been performed over the temperature range [15 – 600] K in the lattice mode fresuency and in the Zn - Cl stretching mode regions. The spectra reveal two striking features at 105 K and around 250 K. At 250 K, a change of the tetrahedron distortions is observed. D.S.C. experiments point out the kinetic character of this transformation. At 105 K. anomalies are observed only in the lattice mode spectra. These are assigned to a ferrcelastic distortion.
