Theoretical approach on the linear magnetoelectric effect in two-phase composites consisting of piezoelectric and piezomagnetic components is presented. On the base of different averaging methods the full matrix of effective properties was evaluated for laminated and fibrous materials (2–2 and 1–3 connectivity patterns). The obtained formulas may be used to determine the concentration limits of constituents providing the maximal magnetoelectric sensitivity.
