Raman scattering by nanophase titanium dioxide

Raman spectra of nanophase titanium dioxide are examined for different particle sizes and after successive annealing temperatures. All the normal modes at 152, 230-250, 422, 612, 702 and 796 cm-1 are assigned comparing with assignments for rutile, anatase structures and other nanophase TiO2. Oxygen deficient effect, grain-size effect and critical selection rule are specially discussed, which are related to special properties of the modes concerned.
