Domain formation in crystals

Abstract

The annealing processes which lead to domain patterns have been simulated by the molecular-dynamics technique for the molecular crystal KSCN and the high-temperature superconducting material YBa2Cu3O7-δ. The same technique allows to trace the evolution of the discommensurations at the commensurate-incommensurate phase transition.
