Effect of the boundary conditions on the local deformation of BaTiO₃ crystals

Abstract

The possibility of the existence of an internal 90[ddot] domain within c-domain BaTiO₃ crystals is theoretically substantiated. This domain originates in the bulk of the crystal and may never reach any of its surfaces. Experimental and theoretical studies are reported aimed at determining the dependence of properties of such a-domain on the mechanical and electrical boundary conditions in the crystal.
