Abstract
The paper is devoted to the influence of chromium doping on the electrooptic properties of lithium niobate. The experimental method yields the electro-optic coefficients with a high accuracy and takes account of the thermo-optic and the piezoelectric effects. At room temperature, for a laser wavelength λ = 1.3 μm the coefficient rc varies from 18.8 pm/V in the pure crystal to 15.5pm/V in the 0.05 wt% chromium-doped crystal.
