Abstract
In fluctuating charge-density-wave (CDW) systems, the role of interchain hydrogen (H) bonds is discussed on the basis of an electron-proton coupling model. It is shown that the one-dimensional CDW state is strongly modulated by the existence of the interchain H-bond network. The equation for the transition temperature for proton-induced ordering among the CDW chains is derived theoretically and the relation between the charge density and H-bond strength is compared with the experimental results, with good agreement.
