Abstract
Dielectric relaxation measurements have been performed on mixed crystals of Rochelle salt and ammonium Rochelle salt, Na(K1−x(NH4)x)-C4H4O6.4H2O, x=0, 0.04, 0.09 and 0.28, in the frequency range between 100MHz and 10GHz, at temperatures from 289K down to 172K. It has been found that the elementary dipolar relaxation for x=0.28, which can be considered to be order-disorder dominated, is quite different from that for x=0, in which the potential for the orientational motion of the dipole cannot be well defined.
