Abstract

The synthetic method used here to prepare smart materials utilizes simple solution chemistry to give a high degree of chemical control and reproducibility. Smart materials such as Pb(MgNb)O3 (PMN) and 0.9Pb(MgNb)O3−0.1PbTiO3 (PMN-PT) were prepared as bulk ceramics and thin films using solgel process. The importance of wet chemical method with respect to the properties of materials in device applications is highlighted.
