Incommensurate domain in high-Tc, superconductors based on a localized space charge model

Abstract

We explain the phase difference of an incommensurate modulation wave of a displacive type between adjacent Bi-O and Cu-O planes in Bi-based high-T c superconductors by assuming that space charges, transferring between the Bi-O and Cu-O planes, are localized on the Bi-O and Cu-O planes to stabilize local polarizations caused by the ion displacement along the c-axis.
