Abstract

We examine linear and nonlinear far-infrared reflection from a ferroelectric surface including a gradient term in the polarisation. The results show how linear spectroscopy may measure previously undetermined gradient and surface parameters. Second harmonic generation is discussed, with results for nonlinear reflection.
