Innovation, Change and Leadership in Geography Departments

ABSTRACT

This article explores a long-standing research interest of the author and concerns curriculum innovation, change and leadership. The literature on change is examined and innovative geographers and departments are discussed. A large-scale and longitudinal piece of research consisting of multi-site case studies was revisited 15 years later and the changes identified were unexpected. The literature on subject leadership is explored and there are suggestions for future work.
