Abstract
The ultrastructure of meiotic cells and ascospores of the ascomycete Ophiostoma multiannulatum has been examined. The young asci contain nuclei, mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum and the ripe asci are rich in lipid droplets. Thin filaments have been observed in the mitochondria, they probably consist of DNA. The ascospores are uninucleate and surrounded by a thin cell wall.
