The Impact of Organic Chemistry on Metal Finishing

SYNOPSIS

Considerable developments have taken place in organic finish formulations in recent years, particularly in the use of synthetic organic chemicals, of which the more important are reviewed here. They include nitrocellulose, solvents, plasticisers, phenolic, alkyd, amino, epoxide, vinyl, styrenated, acrylic, polyurethane, polyester, and silicone resins. A summary is given of the chief fields of application for organic finishes based on these materials.
