The Effect of Chromium Thickness and the Use of Copper Undercoats on the Corrosion Resistance of Microporous Chromium Plate

Pages 19-25 | Received 09 Oct 1969, Published online: 09 May 2017

Summary

Increasing the thickness of microporous chromium deposits reduced the degree of loss of brightness which occurred on static exposure to severe environments. In mobile tests the loss of brightness was much less. The use of copper undercoats greatly increased the degree of protection afforded to the basis metal by microporous chromium deposits applied over bright nickel.
