Summary
The objective of the investigation was to develop solution polishing techniques that would reduce the amount of hand polishing currently carried out in the manufacture of moulds and dies for rubber and plastic mouldings. The performance of a variety of electrochemical and chemical polishing processes is surveyed. The application of a chemical polishing process to the manufacture of moulds and dies in P20 and EN30B steels is described in detail.
