Summary
The influence of mechanical vibration on the zinc phosphate coating formed during the phosphating of steel was studied. Under the experimental conditions used, coating weights were found to be inversely dependent on both frequency of workpiece vibration (0- 125Hz) and vibration amplitude (0- 1.0mm). Vibration also affects crystallisation and P/P+H ratio derived from assessments of hopeite (H) and phosphophyllite (P) concentrations in the phosphate structure.
