ABSTRACT

Reconstructions of the plate tectonic history of a continental margin are rarely unique. Comments on my recent contribution point out statements that the commentators considered confusing and misleading. The comments essentially focus on the significance, or not, of the Chilenia terrane and coeval magmatism in Argentina and to the south of the area which is the focus of my contribution. I offer here a perspective on this issue.
