Pre-trauma Growth under Terror Threat: Suggestive Communication Method in Anticipatory Trauma

ABSTRACT

Counterterror measures put communities in a state of alertness for several years. Jewish schools in Europe respond with higher security measures, going through transformations in their daily routines and environments, marked by security rituals. Anticipating the trauma creates extreme situations that polarizes the sense of agency and alters the state of consciousness, having a collective impact. Analyzing the anticipatory trauma within the framework of the altered state of consciousness opens the possibility for intervening with suggestive communication methods that aim to increase the sense of agency. The positive effect of teachers learning the suggestive communication methods on the sense of agency was measured with the Sense of Agency Scale. The altered state of consciousness in anticipatory trauma opens the mind for the sense of agency changing in a signature pattern, in a way that is typical for a group, allowing cultural reproduction.

Zusammenfassung: Maßnahmen zur Terrorbekämpfung versetzen Gemeinschaften für einige Jahre in einen Zustand der Wachsamkeit. Jüdische Schulen in Europa reagieren mit ausgeprägteren Sicherheitsmaßnahmen, durchlaufen Veränderungen in ihrer Alltagsroutine und ihrem Umfeld, die geprägt sind von Sicherheitsritualen. Das Trauma zu antizipieren schafft extreme Situationen, die das Gefühl der Wirksamkeit polarisieren, den Bewusstseinszustand verändern und kollektive Auswirkung haben. Wird das vorweggenommene Trauma im Rahmen des veränderten Bewusstseinszustands analysiert, so ergibt sich die Möglichkeit der Intervention mittels suggestiver Kommunikationsmethoden mit dem Ziel, das Gefühl der Wirksamkeit zu stärken. Der positive Effekt der Lehrer, welche die suggestiven Kommunikationsmethoden auf den Sinn der Wirksamkeit erlernt haben, wurde mit der Sense of Agency Scale gemessen. Der veränderte Bewusstseinzustand bei antizipiertem Trauma macht offen für das Gefühl der Wirksamkeit, die sich zu einem charakteristischen Muster verändert, welches typisch ist für eine Gruppe und kulturelle Reproduktion erlaubt.

Résumé: Les mesures antiterroristes mettent les communautés en état d'alerte pendant plusieurs années. Les écoles juives en Europe y répondent par des mesures de sécurité plus élevées, avec des modifications de leurs routines et de leurs environnements, marquées par des rituels de sécurité. Anticiper le traumatisme crée des situations extrêmes qui polarisent le sentiment d'agentivité et modifient l'état de conscience, avec un impact collectif. L'analyse du traumatisme d'anticipation dans le cadre de l'état de conscience altéré, ouvre la possibilité d'intervenir avec des méthodes de communications suggestives qui visent à accroître le sentiment d'agentivité. L'effet positif, d'enseignants apprenant les méthodes de communications suggestives sur le sentiment d'agentivité, a été mesuré avec l'échelle de Sentiment d'Agentivité. L'état de conscience altéré dans le traumatisme d'anticipation ouvre l'esprit au changement du sentiment d'agentivité se manifestant par un modèle de signature, typique pour un groupe, permettant une reproduction culturelle.

Resumen: Las medidas contra el terrorismo ponen a las comunidades en estado de alerta durante varios años. Las escuelas judías en Europa responden con medidas de seguridad más estrictas y sus rutinas diarias y ambientes se transforman con base en los rituales de seguridad. La anticipación del trauma crea situaciones extremas que polarizan el sentido de agencia y altera el estado de conciencia, impactando a nivel colectivo. Analizar el trauma anticipado dentro el marco del estado alterado de conciencia abre la posibilidad de intervenir con métodos de comunicación sugestiva con el objetivo de incrementar el sentido de agencia. Los efectos positivos en el sentido de agencia de que algunos profesores aprendieran a usar métodos de comunicación sugestiva se midieron con la Escala de Sentido de Agencia. El estado alterado de conciencia en el trauma anticipado abre la mente para que el sentido de agencia cambie a un patrón distintivo, de la forma típica para un grupo, permitiendo una reproducción cultural.
