Abstract

In Japanese art, the concept of “the space between” refers to the way in which the different elements of a work of art are related to each other. The meaning of closeness and distance becomes important. There is significance in absence as well as in presence. Hypnosis may become a work of art whose fulfillment is achieved only by detailed attention to “the space between.”
