A note on a finite difference method for a class of singular boundary value problems in physiology

Pages 127-132 | Received 22 Dec 1998, Accepted 07 Jan 1999, Published online: 19 Mar 2007

Abstract

In this note we describe a finite difference method of second order accuracy for the singular two point boundary value problems arising in physiology

based on single evaluation of f(x,y). In case of p(x) = x α , the assumptions on p(x) allow α to be any positive number. The order of the method has been verified by one example for some values of α. Two problems of physiology have been solved by this method.
