Abstract

In Evans (1985) the Alternating Group Explicit (AGE) method was introduced for the solution of parabolic partial differential equations in one space dimension. These techniques were extended to problems involving both parabolic and hyperbolic partial differential equations in Evans and Sahimi (1987).

Finally in this paper, the authors demonstrate the versatility of the AGE method by extending the strategy with the use of operator splitting to initial/boundary value problems involving parabolic partial differential equations in 2-space dimensions.
