A division algorithm without number comparison

Abstract

We present in this paper a new algorithm for division. A carry-out technique is used to determine a possible subtraction. No number comparisons are required for determining whether a subtraction is needed. Compared with conventional methods, our new algorithm can be easily implemented and saves about 17% in execution time.
