Abstract
This paper presents extensions of the differential performance sensitivity of infinitesimal parameter variations when a minimum fuel performance is to be implemented. The system is assumed to be linear with free end time, and with initial and final target manifolds.
A result previously obtained by Rootenberg and Courtin (1973) was instrumental in establishing the relations that led to the current extension. The expression, that relates the variations of the performance index for the bang-bang control implementation, is shown to represent the performance sensitivity when a minimum fuel performance is implemented, thus generalizing the expression of differential sensitivity to a wider class of optimal systems.
