Environmental health concepts and issues — a viewpoint

Pages 631-644 | Accepted 14 Sep 2000, Published online: 24 Feb 2007

The quality of our environment and the effect of environmental agents on our health depend largely on the policies adopted by the international community and governments. Global environmental problems pose a threat to human health and well‐being; but all the world's countries which must act co‐operatively to find measures to address such issues have their particular conceptual and diverse environmental challenges. Several concepts have been developed worldwide to show how environmental issues are increasingly central to our health. This paper addresses some of these concepts as they are relevant to us today and in the future.
