Statistical analysis for the relation of water quality parameters in public pools in Medellin, Colombia

ORCID Icon, ORCID Icon & ORCID Icon

ABSTRACT

The quality of water in swimming pools must not pose risks to the health of users. Medellín has more than 1,000 public swimming pools, regularly inspected by the Health department of the city of Medellin. Monitoring of microbiological and physicochemical analyses of pool water was carried out. The results obtained were analysed statistically to determine the correlation between the different parameters of water quality. We used a logistic regression model, for modelling the microbiological and physicochemical parameters, concluding that the microorganisms Escherichia Coli, Coliforms, Pseudomonas and Heterotrophs are explained by redox potential, Chlorine, Temperature, Electric conductivity, Hardness, and Aluminium.
