Scavenging toxic heavy metal ions from industrial wastewaters — a survey

A review containing 87 references from 1985 to 1990 is presented. The use of biological methods in preference to chemical methods of scavenging toxic heavy metal ions from industrial wastewaters is recommended, as it is more economical and cost effective, and the adsorbents can be reused thus preventing secondary contamination and pollution.
