The attitudinal effect of using the computer in an elementary statistics course

Pages 353-360 | Published online: 20 Aug 2006

Abstract

The literature suggests that the computer should interest students in an elementary statistics course and make the course more enjoyable, but that not much formal evaluation has been done to date. This paper describes an attitudinal study of using stored programmes in such a course. Surprisingly the students did not find the course significantly more enjoyable, but did express significant more awareness of the importance of statistics.
