Preparing to teach logic: some heuristics for the non‐professional logician

Students may expect to find in mathematical logic the means to judge the purity of our usual mathematical methods. However, since the style of informal mathematics pervades most modern texts in mathematical logic, the information there may seemingly lack the quality necessary to fulfil such expectations.
