ABSTRACT

The article presents one of the possible ways of overcoming the misconception that is one of the myths about mathematics, which says that teaching mathematics is based only on the transfer of mathematical knowledge in the finished form – often in the form of certain algorithms. The newly proposed method of access to mathematics teaching is illustrated on the selected part of the secondary mathematics curriculum, namely the introduction of the term parameter. The efficiency and effectiveness of the proposed new method was also validated experimentally at selected secondary schools in Slovakia. The results of the research were processed by using selected statistical methods – quantitative analysis methods. Research has shown that the new proposed method is effective. The effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed new method was also verified experimentally and the results of the experiment were evaluated using statistical methods.
