Principle of precision micro-drilling with axial vibration of low frequency

Pages 1421-1427 | Published online: 14 Nov 2010

The present work analyses the principle of precision drilling and the special dynamic response that micro-drilling with a low frequency axial vibration has during drilling. Experiments with material of 18Cr2Ni4WA low carbon alloy steel drilled with twist drills of 0.28 mm diameter have been carried out. The experimental results show that micro-drilling with axial vibration of low frequency can increase the position accuracy of the machined holes.
