Abstract
This paper presents software to assist the tool designer of modular fixturing assembly. The software comprises a knowledge-based Adviser, a fixturing component assembly program and a CAD system. The Adviser assists the tool designers in selecting components from a modular fixturing system (MFS). The fixturing component assembly program will then position and assemble the modular fixturing components. The final assembly is then displayed in the CAD system. An example is also included to demonstrate the working principle of the software.
