Composantes Culturelles du Développement du Raisonnement Technique Chez les Enfants D'[acaron]ge Préscolaire Lors de Substitutions Instrumental

Abstract

Cette recherche vise à définir le rôle du milieu culturel dans la substitution d'un outil par un autre instrument dans trois t[acaron]ches techniques quotidiennes: décou-page, dévissage, clouage. Trois catégories de sujets (n = 180) d'[acaron]ge préscolaire (milieu: gitan, technicien, “favorisé”) ont été testees dans deux conditions expérimentales de substitution: (1) les sujets ont à choisir un instrument adéquat parmi les substituts (11 objets proposés) socialement marqués par leur usage courant; (2) les sujets sont invités à remplacer l'outil manquant par un objet non investi de significations sociales particulières. Les résultats montrent une supé riorité générale du milieu gitan dans les deux conditions expérimentales; surtout dans la mesure o[ugrave] le substitut proposé ne se trouve pas investi par les valeurs culturelles propres au mode de vie du group social.

The study expects to define the cultural component of substitution ability in three groups of subjects 4.5 to 5.5 years old (n = 180): gypsy, labour and privileged class categories, in three common technical work-tasks: cutting, unscrewing and nailing. The hypothesis is tested in two experimental conditions: in the first, we ask the subjects to choose the adequate tool among substitutes socially marked by their common use; in the second, subjects are invited to replace the missing tool by an object which is not identified by a special social significance. The findings indicate a general superiority of the gypsy group in both experimental conditions, especially when the substitute is not identified by a cultural value, relating to the social group's way of life.
