GERT models in an educational institution

Pages 187-191 | Received 25 Jun 1984, Published online: 16 May 2007

Abstract

Stochastic network techniques Rave been applied to many industrial and management problems. Very few applications to educational institutions have been shown. In this paper two more applications of graphical evaluation and review technique (GERT) models are discussed: a model to study the mean time spent by an engineering student in summer training; and a model to study the probability of graduation, and the mean time spent in the college of engineering by a student. In this model the period of an activity is one semester and the entry of a student is allowed at the beginning of any semester. There is a brief discussion of the evaluation of EXCLUSIVE-OR nodes.
