Resonance analysis of nonlinear systems with compound critical points

Abstract

Nonlinear response, bifurcation and stability properties of a non-autonomous system are analysed with regard to resonance. The behaviour of the system in the vicinity of a certain compound critical point is discussed. It is observed that direct application of harmonic balancing in this case is more reliable than the intrinsic harmonic balancing technique. The analyses are carried out with the aid of a symbolic computer language, namely MAPLE.
